Please join us this Saturday morning at 10:30 for a Dharma talk by Rev. McCormick, who was ordained to the Nichiren-shū (Lotus Sutra School) ministry in 2001 by Rev. Ryusho Matsuda, of the San Jose Nichiren Temple. Rev. McCormick is also a long-time practitioner of zazen (seated meditation) and a student of the writings of Dōgen-zenji. We’ll have zazen at 9:30 as usual, and our beloved tea-and-cookies afterwards. Everyone is welcome.

Our old friend Felipe Melizalde and his partner are coming to San Francisco next month, between 14 and 19 July. They’re looking for a place to stay for those few days, a non-trivial task in this increasingly expensive city. Guest Speaker: Steven Tierney
This Saturday, 21 January, the 10:30 a.m. Dharma talk will be given by Steven, our good friend and our Sangha facilitator. Steven is a psychotherapist in private practice, and a Dharma heir or Rev. Cynthia Kear, in addition to being a longtime leader in the Recovery community. As always there is zazen (seated meditation) at 06:30 and again from 09:30 to 10:10. Following the talk we’ll share tea and cookies, in the garden if the weather allows.

Guest Speaker: Rev. Daigan Gaither

Rev. Daigan Gaither began Buddhist practice in 1995 in the Vipassana (Insight) tradition, and then began to study Zen in 2003 with Ryushin Paul Haller Roshi. He received Lay Ordination in 2006 where he was given the name Daigan or “Great Vow”, and received Priest Ordination in July 2011. Daigan speaks internationally on a variety of topics particularly around gender, sexuality, social justice and their intersections with the Dharma. He has a BA in Philosophy and Religion from San Francisco State University, and an MA in Buddhist Studies from the Graduate Theological Union and the Institute of Buddhist Studies.
Come for zazen (seated meditation) at 9:25 a.m., and stay for tea-and-cookies after the talk. All are welcome!

Rev. Keiryu Liên Shutt is a Dharma Heir of Zenkei Blanche Hartman in the tradition of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Born into a Buddhist family in Vietnam, she began her meditation practice in the Insight tradition of Spirit Rock. She is a founding member of the Buddhists of Color in 1998. Her Soto Zen training began at Tassajara monastery where she lived from 2002-2005, after which she practiced monastically in Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. Based at San Francisco Zen Center, Liên also teaches at East Bay Meditation Center and other Bay Area groups.
Please join us for zazen (seated meditation) at 9:25 a.m., with the talk to follow. Afterwards there will be tea-and-cookies and discussion in the living room. Everyone is welcome.
